Call me a dreamer, but I would think with all of todays technology it would be possible to make software (like DDL) that could utilize the smartphone (An App).

Wouldn't it be nice to enter data on your smartphone (App) at stops, starts, fuel stops, receipts, etc. all the thing you would enter on your laptop. At the end of the day or two merge the data via Bluetooth or USB cable. Or sooner if you need to print your logs, book keeping reports or whatever.

    Just Dreaming !!!
    lil may Thanks this.

It's pretty limited, and only does logs. Doesn't merge with main program or any for that matter that I can tell. Only Iphone (not a fan).

I did see it in my search, but the reviews and limitations didn't impress me.:biggrin_2557:

    Maybe I'm just to picky....

I've wanted that android app for a while. Even PM'd one of the guys that started a thread here that they were making an app for truckstops, washes, rest areas, etc. I think there would be a good market for it. And if it worked well I'd be willing to shell out some $$$

Terrible program. Very limited. They are more focussed on getting into the EOBR section.

I'm not really interested in data input on a smart phone. Too tedious and my arms are getting too short.

I'm liking the full applications running on a Macbook Air. Solid state hard drive and is ready to use within 2 seconds of opening the lid. Small and light enough to drop in a door pocket or similar. I'm sure there are similar netbooks running windows 7 basic that would be a better value and get the job done as well. I just happened to already have the mac.

Maybe I'm just too into protecting my privacy or something :biggrin_25520: but here is my thoughts.

Why would you want this kind of info on your phone? Do you not care who goes rifling through your stuff? I sure do. We all know that all LEO's are not on the up and up. What would keep them from accesing your personal info from your phone when you hand it to them? It's already been happening at different scale houses and by LEO's confiscating people's phones to try and find Data top use against them. I believe your just asking for hassles myself but hey to each their own I guess.

I can kind of understand the DDL program on your laptop because it would be right there on the screen and then you can simply print your other days logs off for them if they want them. However if I was going to use such a thing I beleieve I would buy me a cheap low end laptop/netbook to use for only that purpose and would have nothing on their but said program nand have a "personal use" laptop for everything else.

Maybe I'm just too old school because of the way I was taught or something but these are just my thoughts.
    Christensen and rookietrucker Thank this.
