    Honestly, I understand the reasoning (make people buy American again) but the implementation is awful. We are the last neighbour they should be angering.

    You have a trade deficit because nobody manufactures hardly anything anymore, it's all been farmed out to China and Mexico. Canada is basically just a raw materials supplier, we don't manufacture much either.

    A lot of the big exporters of lumber in Canada are American companies who are pretty #### upset today.

    Supply and demand, and when the demand is high the lumber will flow across the border and the consumer who is purchasing the end product will ultimately pay the tax, so in the end, it is the consumer who will get hurt with higher prices.

    Of course they will manufacture it someplace else, it's cheaper that way, thanks to the horrible trade deals that's been brokered over the years
