Sold a truck, received a cheque and buyer backed out

    Priority #1 should be getting that truck back onto your property. Whatever may have been done to it is done already. He can't hack it up (or hack it up any more) if its parked in your driveway. Once its secured, go after him for any damages or use.

    If its still registered to you and he's using it, whether that be for legal hauling or illegal activity, I would think you'd be at least partially on the hook for it too. I mean I don't think he can get insurance on a truck he doesn't own? Would he even insure it since he doesn't even have the money to pay you for it?

    I'd make dang sure all the components are original too. I've heard stories of folks renting construction machines but try and pull a fast one by swapping failing components out of their own machine and into the rental.
