Quaker state supposedly is the only oil that doesn't cut with recycled, been using that in my personal vehicles for 30some yrs. Rotella in the big truck, or whatever the Peetro uses( also TA, Flying fishhook), always add a couple quarts of Marvel, also works good in air tools. Climbing hills, try to keep it in the sweet spot, every truck has one.

    Amsoil Signature Series 15W-40.

Keep my RPMs between 1400-1600 with the pyrometer below 1100. This is with an old Cat though, so you’re setup will be a lot different.

Rottela T6 synthetic, i don't push it hard climbing hills heavy, i keep boost to max 50%/30 psi, 1400-1500 rpm downshift if needed and turn 4 way flashing light on if gets slow.

I’m always kind of bummed out that I bought my W900 with the E series instead of the 379 with the 425 B model Cat. Wonder what I missed out on... I probably get better mileage, and the 550 horse would outpull it. Still it crosses my mind often.

Got a B. Got a 6nz which is probably pretty close to an E but never had an E. What year is yours? I suspect your E may cold start easier and have less clatter and smoke. I know the 435 6nz feels lazy and revs slower and lower with some turbo lag. No turbo lag on my B and the power comes in NOW

    It’s a 97 6TS. Pulls better than the 475 Acert in the T800 I used to drive.

We have an ‘05 Acert too. It has more umph, more boost and less lag than the 6nz. The Acert is a good running engine when it’s working and isn’t having wiring harness or IVA issues. The 6nz just runs

They say the 6NZ is the best there is. Never driven one, so wouldn’t know. The Acert I drove pushed a little over 40psi. My E is about 32. I’d like to turn it up a bit whenever there’s some spare money laying around.

IMO the 6nz is best because of reliability. It’s was fantastic for us. Dont recall the miles exactly.....maybe 800,000 and all we did is put an alternator on it. The Acert...more performance but reliability.....well not so much. The IVA housing grenaded, wrecked the valve train and put a hole in the head. Found out later that was a known problem. Cost was $13,000. Later there were IVA and harness issues galore.

It now that Elogs are here, a pre-00 engine is the best. And if you want to avoid ABS problems a pre-98 truck is best. And if you want to avoid death trap speed limiters in Ontario and Quebec a pre-95 truck is best.
