Hello, i'm a "wannabe" as truckers reports calls it and I have a question? I recently received a ticket for going 4 miles over and i was wondering if it would/could hinder companies hiring me? And if so what companies? so i'll steer clear from them when I graduate from trucking school. I live Indianapolis, IN and I received the ticket in OHIO. SOMEONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!!

I believe i would go to court for that one. Only 4 over, judge may have options that would keep it off your record.

Gotta fight that one. Margin of error is enough to throw that 4mph figure into question. Ohio....go figure.....
...but it wasn't in a construction zone, was it?? That could explain the nit-picking.TypicalLowLife and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
Unless you have already signed the ticket and sent in the money, I would fight it. Follow the instructions on the ticket on how to plead not guilty. There will be several hoops to jump through and probably more than one appearance. Just walk into court and simply say the officer is mistaken, you were traveling at the speed limit. Do not admit to going over by 4 mph. Introduce the concept of reasonable doubt and you might get it dismissed.

Should fight it..
But.....I wouldn't worry about it if you already paid it.
It won't keep you from getting hired at most companies.Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
Tickets will always haunt you, and sometimes in ways that are not obvious. For example, suppose a company is trying to choose between you and another equally qualified candidate. The fact that you have a ticket, no matter how minor a violation involved, and the other guy doesn't can be the deal breaker that denies you the job. Or, a company may offer you a slightly lower wage because the ticket makes you a bigger risk.
Are you eligiable for traffic school? If yes, I strongly suggest you attend and complete the class before you test for your CDL at DMV. You want to assure the ticket is completely cleared before you get your Class A to prevent the citation from being appended to your commercial driving record..TypicalLowLife, Lux Prometheus and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
They've pulled me over, multiple times, for doing say like, 41 in a 35 or 51 in a 45. I even got pulled over for doing 39 in a 35 that was a construction zone.
Granted this was years ago.
You think the State patrol is bad? Go hit up Wayndote or Kingsville local/sheriff patrols. These guys are renown within the state for being massive douches. Wayndot is all the way across the state, yet news about their antics on 30 still comes over to Cleveland.48Packard Thanks this. -
That's a ticket to fight because it's beatable if you haven't paid it but it's not a deal breaker. I don't even think two minor tickets would be a problem. Three and they start scratching their heads.
Once you get your CDL you don't go down without a fight. You have to protect the CDL as it's your bread and butter. You start by good driving habits.
If you start driving you get promoted from wannabe to a newbie!TypicalLowLife Thanks this. -
Thanks you all for the answers. I just really don't want this to affect my record, but it feels like it will. As he stated "it will haunt me"... FREEEAKYY! *baby voice from the insurance commercial*
