I hope Spirit folds. It has excessive fees for passengers, especially baggage fees.
If your carryon bag even touches the bag measurement/size box you're charged $100 extra dollars right then. People with flexible bags get hit all the time because when they set it down the sides puff out. That's $100 extra even though the bag may only weight 10 lbs.
The ticket agent gets $10.00 for every bag rejected so they're incentivized to reject bags.

Well the writing has been on the wall for them for a few months now. they were counting on a merger with Frontier initially, then JetBlue came in to put in a higher bid, only for a federal judge to block that merger on antitrust grounds. When they tried to renegotiate with Frontier they walked away(and that company isn’t exactly in the best financial help itself). Now Spirit is retiring all of its Airbus A319 fleet(to scrape up much needed cash and stave off creditors from calling in their markers). All of these airlines are so hell-bent on mergers and acquisitions/consolidations but in the end, the customer is the one who gets the shaft!
They forgotten how to emphasize on improving CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Flying isn’t as fun as it used to be 30 to 40 some odd years ago!
I never thought I’d say this, but I actually enjoy driving more than I do flying.

I won't get on an airplane, nor will I go to an airport (except to pick someone up).
Flying used to be a fun adventure. Now it's like going to prison, and you might get out.
My FIL's birthday is in March......I really want to be there, but I won't get on a plane (ATL-DFW).
I might drive. But I won't get on a plane.

It’s like “dinner and a show” on any of their flights!:Journey:
Or “Fight Club” in their particular case!!
    Either way,you’re entertained!!:argue::boxing:

She hates flying, she’s scared to death of it!!
She’ll drive, take the bus, take Amtrak or a ship before she sets foot on ANY aircraft!

About 15 years ago Airways Magazine did an interview with former Continental Airlines CEO Gordon Bethune about the state of the airline industry at the time and he perfectly described it during its state of flux.

One statement that still rings true in my ears to this very day is when he stated, and I quote:
“Airlines have made a pizza so cheap that people don’t want it anymore!!”

This is the same man who managed to turn Continental Airlines around from one of the worst performing airlines to the best one!
His insight was a foretelling of things to come in the industry!

And he was right on the money!!

Isn't Spirit Airlines like riding a flying Greyhound bus? I doubt I'll ever fly again but if I do I'll pay more to fly an airline that caters to more-civilized passengers.
