I was reluctant to post this in fear of looking like an idiot. ran this by 2 friends that are good mechanics. me personally I'm far from a good mechanic I'm not afraid to tear into certain things though. last week when greasing noticed front yoke on power divider had play, so I took it apart, put loctite on nut, ran it down, new u joint called it a day. 100 miles up the road I have gear oil everywhere, seal went out. turn around, take a day to spend with family as I was frustrated at the whole deal. tear back into it, get seal out, to do this I took the cover with 6 bolts off to knock seal out from inside, kept track of shims, bolts in a box. 99.9% sure I didn't loose anything. seal is S13143 crosses to national 100495, parts house gives me a DTP2590 says it crosses to the national number, and it does look the same. put it back together, the yoke is now bottoming out on seal after running nut down. so tight I can't turn it at all. I'm stumped and don't know what to do. I'm questioning myself if I lost a spacer now between yoke and bearing. any help or a good diagram id truly appreciate it. I'm 100% stumped and feel like a true idiot.

I know this sounds dumb, but no way the race fell out of the cover?

Ok. I don't have the parts breakdown in front of me, but I don't think there's a spacer. Can you take a pic of what your describing of the yoke bottoming out on the seal? Like it's all the way up the sealing surface of the yoke?

Also, if you loosened the bolts of the cover, just a thread or so, then tighten the yoke, does anything change?

Sorry, I am just seeing this. I was studying some diagrams as well. Didn’t get a new yoke. I will try and upload some pictures. I’ve come to the theory it is the wrong seal, and the yoke is bottoming out on seal instead of the bearing. Upon further inspection the new seal is slightly thicker than old seal. Having issues with pictures down loading from iCloud at the moment.

Does the yoke have a wear ring on it?

I think it was Rockwell that included a dust cover for the yoke with the seal. Maybe I'm wrong.

If so, the dust cover kinda looked like it was part of the seal, and could be left on by mistake.

    Any possibility there @PSM379?

IMG_5240.jpeg IMG_5237.jpeg IMG_5240.jpeg No wear ring on yoke.

no dust cover stuck to seal from what I can tell.
Thank you for the ideas though. Unfortunately

in these pictures you can see the new seal installed then the after picture where I took it back apart after a 5 mile or so ride.

Oxbow and Big Road Skateboard Thank this.
