Update....Took my second trip out (same exact run as the first--Nashville to Cedar Rapids, roundtrip). I got a little bit more backing experience, and from what I could tell, I needed it! Attention future students that just got their CDL: If you think you having alley docking down, you are in for a big surprise. Any fool can back a trailer between cones in an open parking lot. It's a totally different story when you have to squeak it between two empties with no room to set up in front of you, in the middle of the night, with two other trucks waiting to get by you. Hats off to you experienced guys that just slip that puppy in there like it's nuthin. Anyway....They are switching me to a different trainer after Thanksgiving. He runs the NE regional and will pick me up at home (NJ) on Mon or Tue. Having a blast, and loving it so far....
BigGreenAlien Thanks this. -
Nothing new...still waiting to link up with my next trainer, which is looking like Thursday sometime...I didn't want to wait that long, but it worked out great for me to be home for Thanksgiving!

Glad it's going well for ya so far....looking forward to more updates!
Ronnie Holland used to be the Safety Director there....he had been there for some time....guy named Jim Hicks was also in Safety. Bob Somebody was director of training. -

Update... My new trainer called me and will be up here Wednesday morning! I'm ready to get back on the road! Sounds like he wants to run hard, so should be some good experience for me. Star seems to be going the extra mile to take care of their drivers. I just hope things go this well once I get out on my own...so...till next time!
48Packard Thanks this. -
How often does Star Transportation get their drivers home for? And how long are you at home?

Hi guys
Just an update to Star out of nashville i left in 2011 and Mike Salyers was a good opts man but the day i called him he was not happy about the direction the company was headed because Covenant was
more involved in their day to day operations.
The next day i called in too my DM Jorge found out they fired him he was out of orlando he was one of the best DM's i've ever had, also when i called too talk too Mike Salyers they said he had been fired also
and i had been taken off OTR and placed in the new SE regional div. without my knowledge.
So at that time i told them to load me toward Nashville and i would be turning truck in at that time.
Also was told they wouldn't pay my way home so i said no big deal i would pay my way home just get me too airport which i tipped their maint guy that came in to do cleanup and he gave me ride.
I wont go back. -
Hey also forgot but i did hear that Mike Salyers i think went to Big G expess out of Nashville.
