Well i have posted on here before about starting school at another school and that fell through. I have been trying to get started back into trucking for awhile now but it was just one bump in the road after another. With that said the good news is that i will be starting Monday April 4th at C1 in Fort Wayne.
The company i chose to go with was P.A.M after my schooling is done. I have done a lot of reading about PAM and have actually not found a lot of bad threads about them, i mean besides them not paying the greatest so i feel this might be there place for me, at least for the first year or so.
I will pay my dues and work for them until i can get the experiance to move on to a better paying gig or if i find after a year or so with them i like it where i am then i will just stay on.
I dont have delutions about how easy it is on the road and how my life is going to be one fun load after another and its going to be all fun and games, hanging out at the truck stops, driving for a few hours and then parking the rest of the day. I know i will be limited on my home time and can expect to stay out on the road anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks at time. I know i will miss kids birthdays, thanksgiving and even christmas if the work is there and im needed. But we all have to start somewhere and i feel this might be the best move i have made in my life in a very long time. Oh and believe me i know im not going to get rich doing this and i know until i get time in and get the experiance i wont be paid a whole lot, but i guess i figure even a small paycheck at this time in my life is better then no paycheck at all. Between what i make and the nice wage my wife makes it will just make life alot easier for us and our family.
I will update this as much as possible but to be honest i will be focusing on learning something new everyday and this will probably be one of the last things i think of at the end of a long day, but i will give it a shot and try to update it every so often.
Thanks for the help from the guys on here who answered my questions in the past and im sure i will be asking for more help in the future so thanks for that in advace.....

I've heard a lot of bad reviews of the hotel. Hallmark Inn, right? I'm starting class there as well on the 18th. I'm very excited, but also very nervous. Keep us posted as I would love to hear what your experience is like as I wait to ship out there. Guess I'll be seeing ya there!

Yea the hotel is as bad as you heard, but i havent spent much time in it. They rush you through the first week pretty fast. By the end of week one you will have your cdl permit and start on the driving range on week 2, dont worry if you dont pass all your permit test, you can retake them again the next day and each day after that until you pass them. I might still be here when you get here if i dont finish next week. If i am still here i will be in rm 116.

So how do you get from the hotel to the school? -
If you dont have a ride they have a shuttle here that will take you to and from school. Its really just a mini van the hotel uses.

I'll be starting there on Monday. Oh boy.
I'm excited. The only thing that has me nervous is shifting, since I've never driven stick, although I do understand how, and backing, but I guess it just takes lots of practice. Good luck to ya!

So, did you go to the Swingers CluB over the weekend?
I went to C1 and was happy to get in and out. 9 months later still with my first company, and now working local. Wouldnt change a thing about my schooling or where I am working.
Good Luck!
Raid3rElectric_Hyena Thanks this. -
