I have no words of wisdom but I hope that you will keep us updated. I am interested in Melton but nobody seems to keep posting. They post once or twice and then no more.Good luck in your new venture.

I would really like to flatbed but it is kinda hard to give up the job I have now. I pull reefers and the company is good but grocery warehouses suck. I am scared of miles with flatbed the way the economy is so I am interested in your first hand experience.
-
thats what i am pulling right now also i am tired of having to fight with the shop in order to get something fixed and i hate grocery warehouse and walmarts lol they make me want to pull my hair out
-
I know what you mean about the grocery warehouses,4-8 hr unload and some very rude people.
-
yes and i will keep you up to date on things

Good luck, are you doing orientation in Birmingham? I understand that terminal got destroyed by a tornado.
-
no they said i am coming to tulsa and yes the tornado did destroy the terminal but they have an portable trailer that they are working out of

Just a heads up for you drivers complaining about the wait time to ld/unld wait till you go to a steel mill and there's a big line of 10-20 trucks. This happens a lot, then you have to consider the time it takes to secure and tarp (if you're new to this, it might take a 1-2 hrs). Of course this doesn't happen a lot but it does happen. If you're concerned about miles, don't worry. When I was doing flatbed the miles were in 2500-2800 ballpark. For some reason my DM started to give a lot of short hauls, which were not a problem except it's kinda hard to put in good miles when you have to tarp/untarp every single day of the week.
