Finaly after over a month and a half I was able to find a company that did not have their head up their ### and gave me a chance at work.

The check my 3 job references in the last 10 years, they checked to see my felonies were over 10 years ( their 16 years ago )

The noticed I have my BS in Communications and speak 3 languages. They wondered why I could not find work with big companies like CR England, carolina cargo and Swift but I explained that the recruiters never called me back.. Maybe because I was a truck school grad. Who knows but I'm starting my career tomorrow in the morning.

That college degree I earned at PSU has served NO PURPOSE other than to sit on a shelf and collect dust. The job market sucks right now!! Call center work sucks, sitting on my ### all day talking to people on a phone stinks. I would rather sit on my ### dealing with bad drivers but who knows..

Anyways my big question is this, I have ZERO money, they told me to bring 3-4 days of clothing with me and thats it. Do smaller companies generaly front at least 100 bucks to travel on until payday?

I can't speak for all companies, but the two that I'm familiar with let drivers take out a small advance via a Comdata check. Call your payroll clerk for the best answer, or another driver at your company for even better help.

And welcome back. Who do you drive for? Just curious.

Also, if your company does use Comdata and you are able to obtain a cash advance, I think that most places charge something around five dollars to cash the comdata check.

If you use your Comdata card to get fuel the pump will ask you if you want a cash advance up to $100. Not sure if this is regardless of your company or if they have to specifically authorize that feature. Also don't know if you can withdraw $100 each time or if you can only do a certain amount each month or something. If you do it this way you just go into the fuel desk and they hand you the cash right there. When you get your paystub it will be deducted from the final amount as an advance.

I would rather not say the company untill I've been there a month and proven my worth. I will say though just not now. Also I go out for training with them for 1 week than get my own truck!!

So looking forward to this as a career.

Honestly, why not discuss this with your recruiter? I would assume if they are a decent company they would try to work something out with you.

Most companies will run you back past the house on your first trip. Allowing you to get the rest of your gear. Otherwise, you're going to be washing clothes fairly often.

The money part, has been explained earlier. Even if they don't put it on your fuel card, many will allow you to call in for a ComChek.
