    Does anyone have a solution to the static noise generated by my darned LED headlights? I have tried resistors which helps with function of the lights but the noise persists. I need to be able to hear because of my line of work avoiding collisions with other trucks on narrow rock roads with limited turn outs. The radio transmits just fine but reception is terrible due to static noise.

    You can try some RF chokes on the power wire at the LED lights like this guy did.



    You will need to buy these.

    Workman RFC3 4mm Snap Ferrite Core Noise Suppressor RF Choke - Walmart.com

    Are you running a good ground ? Try running the ground from the battery direct. My older Galaxy Pluto radio had a similar issue, but not to noisy. When I replaced it with my Anytone AT 6666, it all went away.

    What type of headlights?

    Are they factory or one of those aftermarket chinese junk?

    The truck had factory halogen headlights, we purchased the LED lights and resistors through Pete dealer. I don’t recall the name brand but I could actually pick up headlights of other trucks on my cb when I’d meet them on the road, so I made sure these weren’t the noisy ones.

    I won't touch on the legalities of the LED lights in a halogen housing other than they produce a lot of light scatter, but the other part is because they are cheap chinese LED lights that are also illegal because they admit RF that causes the static. The best solution is to run the original lights or a brighter version of it to eliminate the static because these lights are poorly shielded to begin with. you could also try to put a choke on the LED line, it may help, it may even eliminate the problem but overall it may not work at all.

    I’m back. So the replacement lamps are fmcsa compliant truck lite heated units. They come stock on the 389 two years younger than my truck. Since 75%of our operation is off highway in fog and snow they are a fantastic upgrade.
    The chokes did the trick.
    Does anybody have a line on a Paccar aftermarket Toyota Prius elimination device? Just kidding! Thanks for the info!

    There is no such thing. You mean DOT compliant light, it is a pet peeve of mine, sorry.
