I'm wondering how much does hauling steel pay?...I currently do so as a company driver and the few times that they've mistakenly included the rate on the paperwork it's been over $2.50 per mile....I don't know how much they pay when it's weight based though....or if that rate was average, good or bad for the haul.....

2.50 sounds pretty good depending on the mileage associated with and and the cost to run the truck. Cost me about a 1 a mile so 3000 miles of 2.50 would be beautiful

Think you can run a truck for a buck a mile ? How ? -
thats what it cost me to just run the truck not including my pay, thats break even. around 1.50 a mile so i can live comfortably
-
I know they pay per hundred pounds on coils from a plant in PA. It's good money when you can scale a lot. Then it depends on where you haul.

a buck a mile sounds about right,50 cpm for the driver and anything on top of that is his profit.

And I'm glad to know there are o/o's out there that can't break even at 1.50. It's great to know I could undercut your rate and still make money. And more than 1.50 for fuel? My fuel cost per mile on my second truck is at the moment 50 cpm.... View attachment 70388 ... my truck is higher than that due to dpf issues and a bad fuel pump... but I'm getting rid of it soon as the turd has some other issues starting to arise...ew2108 Thanks this. -
