can a steel mill put a mark against my cdl for one of their train yard rules and regulations
situation: I was in detroit area at a steel mill (long story but was held there for over 6 hrs - no rest rooms - no chance for a break of any kind) but upon leaving I was sent to a different area to get my paperwork - going to this area I had to cross train tracks - a train had just went by so the other truck in front of me and I went since the train had passed - apparently there were lights flashing (no crossing bars) that neither of us saw - apparently this sent off some red flags and we were both questioned and I would almost say harrassed about it - they took pictures of both of our licenses
there were never any rules stated to me when I arrived (first time being there) there was no paper handed to me with their rules - so being this is private property or company property can they put a mark against my cdl license for something that happened on their property
side note : I will never go back there

Not taking photos of my license.
But your probably just banned there, with your photo license copy, hanging in the guard shack with ‘banned from property’ for all to see. -

At US steel in Granite city the security guards driving around could pull you over and search your truck for no good reason at all but only inside the property. Had to load a trailer for my friend once at nucor in Crawfordsville as he did exactly the same thing your talking about and got banned for however many days it was. Same friend (kinda reckless) failed the safety quiz at US Gary and got booted for 24 hours on more than one occasion. Never at any point that I am aware of did any of it ever effect his actual drivers license outside the confines of the Mills themselves. Just ruined his day and was fairly entertaining for the rest of us.

No. A steel mill, or any customer for that matter, cannot make a mark against your CDL.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
