I am getting new steer tires and am going with Michelin XZA2 Energy due to extremely low rolling resistence.
Main question, does anybody run 275/70R 22.5 as their steer tires? If so, are you happy with them?

Ta has a deal going on now ending June 30. 2 new steers and free steer axle alignment check. The ad says $699 but that is for Samsons, a bit more for Mich Firestone, Bridgestone Goodyear etc.
Hi dandy, I had Michelin's once, and while I got good mileage out of them, they seemed "slippery" on water and snow. I had just about every kind made, and settled on Bridgestone. Better price and lasted almost as long, and seemed better on wet roads.
My thoughts exactly on the XZA2's. We had a set that came on a truck I bought. They quickly came off. I only run XZA1's and never had a issue. I could care less about rolling resistance I want to make sure I can get where I'm going. Not going is not a option."semi" retired and dandynamic Thank this. -
Hi scottied67, I don't know, those are Chinese tires, and while they may be ok for the drives, or trailer, I'd want only well known tires on the steer. I bought some cheapies once, Kelly-Springfield, I think, and they melted away.
Couple months back my right steer was wearing on the outside edge. So I rotated the steers to see if the other steer would wear the same way which it did not. But the tire that I moved to the left steer position was continuing to chew up on the outside edge so bought a Sampson to replace it (didnt' want to buy 2 as the other steer was still good at 9/32s). Anyway, the Samson started wearing on the edge too which now I thought must be a rim problem or balance problem. Well today I took advantage of the buy 2 steers and get a free alignment check deal. Camber was good, the toe was out of spec it turns out. Got the Firestone's have run them before with good results.
Meanwhile was talking with an independent owner op, he was showing me his tire problems, the inside left and outside right steers were worn all the way down to steel showing. I couldn't believe he was showing me this stuff, I would be embarrassed to let it get that far. He's an OOS just waiting to happen. Literally at risk of blowing both steers at the same time at 75 miles per hour. I though he would stick around and buy new tires, but after he showed me he took off. -
Thanks Semi

Thanks Scottie67. I agree with the OOS comments, amazing what you see out here at times and then they ##### about DOT inspectors!!
scottied67 Thanks this. -
I run the XZA3 steers and I am very pleased with them.
I had both XDA2 XDA3 steer tires. With proper alignment the tires will give exceptional wear characteristics. At 150k I still showed 80% tread on a 2007 T660.
I run them now on my 05 Columbia. I have approx 25k on these. No issues to report.
The only cons I can think of are that they are directional. So they need to swap rims in order to get rotated.
I've ever experienced any adverse traction issues while on wet or icy roads. They were as good as any other steer tire in that regard. I bought mine because of their over the top tread wear and how even they wear providing a good smooth ride for the duration of their usage.
Hurstscottied67 and dandynamic Thank this.
