I would be leery of stevens. When I was a admin on another trucking site there was a poster there called hawker. He went to school and posted about his exp going thru stevens. Talk about some entertaining reading...:biggrin_2559:I liked the part about the crime scene tape at the motel, bullet holes in the wall.... and the dumb and dumber phase when they pair two rookies together to learn from each other. He learned that his rookie partner did not know how to descend a mountain and he also leaned what warp speed is in a big truck....:biggrin_2556:
He was gone awhile and forgot his password. He joined again as hawker 2 I believe. I reset his password for him and he went back to posting as hawker. I will PM you the link so you can read up on his journeys.

I can't speak to it from my own experience, but I do know a guy who tried to do his training with them. Once you are trained they will put you with another student for a while. You'll hear truckers on the radio refer to Stephens drivers as dumb & dumber. Anyway the short of it is, the guy I know didn't get along with his trainer and the trainer ended up pulling off on the side of the freeway and threw the trainee and all his belongings out of the truck. I don't know how often this happens, but in my opinion once is to much and any company that would allow it to happen can't be that good in my opinion. The guy could have at least taken him to a terminal or perhaps a truck stop. Now I will say the trainee I'm talking about does have somewhat of a strange demeanor, but I don't think it warranted being put out of the truck in the middle of the night in no mans land. It's just one story and you can't judge a company by just one incident, I think if you investigate further you will hear a lot more.
    Good Luck

Dumb and Dumber was stopped 2 years ago...now you go out with a finish trainer.

Also the company policy is, if a trainer puts a student out on the side of the highway, he will be terminated.

    JustSonny and wildbill123 Thank this.

If you listen to the radio, 'other' truckers will trash just about EVERY company that takes on trainees.
Just a part of the beast.
