The other day, I called Trans Tech, a local truck driving school in Charlotte, NC. Their school tuition is $3000 and that is without on site room and board which I don't believe is available. They mentioned some companies sponsor through them and I would not have to pay anything up front and you know, you can work for the company on an agreed length of time and you could pay back a little more than $100 per month.

Then, I called Stevens to find out what they would charge me sponsoring me through Trans Tech. How about $5900! I can see tacking on some interest but they want to basically double the price for the student making me responsible for paying them back $2900 more than I would have paid out of pocket. I found that unbelievable especially considering that their own school is $4200. That told me all I needed to know about Stevens Transport.

I don't think you are capable of working in Interstate or Intrastate commerce on just a Learners Permit.

I didn’t pay a dime for my training in 2000 through Schneider. I signed a contract stating that I would remain employed with them for 365 days. I’m pretty sure they don’t do that anymore but with such a gargantuas driver shortage industry wide, I’m surprised they make people pay to work.

You dodged a bullet with Stevens BTW. If staying out a minimum of six weeks sounds appealing then they would probably work. The longest I’ve ever stayed out in 19 years was two weeks. Now I spend three nights a week in the truck and that’s plenty.

I know paying double sounds like a ripoff (and it is for what you get). But they wouldn't charge it if they didn't have muppets willing to pay. And compared to the debt you can go into attending college or voc-tech 6k aint nothing.

Boy, you said a mouth full! You ever bite a muppet? Not one ounce to be had from that neck. I’m talking bone dry here. Just a mouth full cotton!

You can go to Sampson Community College in Clinton NC for around 500.00. I know people that drove 2 hours each way to attend.

Well, I wasn’t gonna say, but it was Miss Piggy. Hey, our dinner date was going just great until she says “You gonna eat that?” as she stuffs MY dinner roll into her mouth.

You just don’t grab a man’s last dinner roll!
