Hello all,
I live in Fort Myers, FL and am looking at getting out of the restaurant business. At 51 years old trucking seems like a perfect fit for me and have been looking into trucking schools. I've researched and have found Stevens Transport to be a possibility due to having a sponsored school close to home in Tampa. Does anyone have any experience with them? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Trucking is a great career. How much money do you need annually at the minimum?
Tampa Truck Driving School (TTDS) is a good school and does train for Stevens Transport. Many other companies also hire from there.
Pretty sure CTL Transportation hires from that school also. Good money to be made pulling tankers; usually much more annually than other types of trucking.

Doesn't matter where the company is headquartered as long as you're in the hiring area for that company. Example, you can work for a company headquartered in California and still live in Florida as long as the company hires Florida drivers. You'll still be under Florida's tax laws which means you still won't have to pay state income taxes, no matter where the company is headquartered.
Contact CTL Transportation and ask if they hire Ft. Meyers drivers. If they do, that's a good choice for you. You'll make probably $60K + right out of school and they will reimburse your cdl school tuition. -

Some companies only hire teams that live below I-4. Some teams the money is pretty good, but not everyone wants to run teams & I'm one of them.
I don't think CTL Transportation uses teams, so you may be in luck there, if they hire Ft. Meyers drivers. -
