Big difference in losing a couple grand for a deductible versus footing the whole bill on the loss of the trailer. Best case would be if they can get it back undamaged.

How would the self insurance help?

It wouldn't help when they have a loss. A self insured company would end up with the total loss.

Oh the footing the whole bill for the whole thing would've never happen. But imagine what it was like reporting 3 trucks stolen in 12 days. The insurance company was already having a stroke. And we all know how depreciation works. They much rather just get it back. We have a shop that can fix it

So they'd just write the trailer off?
