We have gone past Tropical Storm warnings escalating to Hurricane Warnings already. Florida is getting a clubbing from Fort Myers all the way to Key West and Miami today until tonight. Once the storm gets out into the Gulf, it will get up and run. Storm force winds extend 45 miles at the time of this post from the center, Making it about 90 miles across now.

That's all well and good. Bring it.

Tornadoes have walked past my home with winds in excess of 140 several times. (Packing 240+ gusts wrecking Vilona not far away twice) all we lost was a few shingle. My old house was built with a roof to 130 mph standard along with a number of other retrofits against storm. The 1999 tornado there in that town completely and utterly wrecked the entire place. 150+ homes destroyed, a 3000 student school complex trashed. a firehall, major churces times 5 destroyed. 5 people killed 90+ hurt. Two story houses thrown down into several major streets. (Where we drove around bedrooms taking up a lane on this side or that side. We were taking turns in our cars to get past each other on the opposite lane. The National Gaurd was checking licenses of us all coming there to prove we lived inside that zone and can gain entry, everyone else kicked back out.

After something like that, you gain a sort of outlook on life that whatever happens in storm conditions if it is today to die, then let's get it over with. We are late. God is calling. Hurry to him with happy feet.

Ive endured many storms in midatlantic in my life hurricanes and noreasters. Some of the really BIG hurricanes were .. S C A R Y when that wind shrieks at 150+ and stays screeching like a harpy for half a day then quiet for 30 minutes as the eye passes over and then back to another 12 hours with very bad wind and everything blown that way this time heaped up over there.

Even more so when I am in a tiny 18 wheeler rocking in that sleeper with legs braced against the cabinet, back against the back wall and so on. Hanging onto that crash webbing for 20 hours in the worst of it. Now I'll just park the #### thing and go into a concrete hotel. Burn the truck. Or house, it does not bother me anymore It's all insured.

Yeah if it manages to follow the central forecast track, Little Rock and that general area will be right in the rainiest part of the storm. As long as it doesn’t stall and continue to pump up gulf moisture for days, they might be okay.

Newest models have it reaching hurricane strength by landfall but quickly deteriorating once it reaches land but I seem to remember them thinking that early on with Harvey. I haven't looked yet at any rainfall potential models for this Gordon.

Better start topping off your fuel whenever you can because pump prices will probably start working upward from now into the foreseeable future.
