New to step deck oversized loads. Are you guys using extra long straps or straps with a hook that you can chain to?

And tips or advice are appreciated, thanks.

It honestly comes down to the load each time.

Trust yourself and if you think you should add 1 more strap, just add it. ( or chain )

    Simplespeed Thanks this.

What i meant was are you guys using 40' - 60' straps or just any strap with a chain hook on the end so you can chain to it to get the extra length?

40’ long straps usually do the job,u can use straps with chain ends and hook’em together but you will need winches on both sides or ratchet straps.
Another trick is to use chains on one end and attach the hook to it to get the extra length needed.
I also attach two straps by the hook like a handshake,it all depends on the load

Then wrap the 2 ends together with duct tape so if the straps loosen up they wont slide apart.

I bought a dozen 40’ straps that I occasionally use for wider, taller stuff.

I just use ducktape to tie down everything you always have plenty of length, just be careful on the corners.

Shippers Supplies will make you any length strap in what ever color you want with what ever hook configuration you desire.

I carry 5 50' long straps and do my damnedest to not have to use them. They suck to roll up by hand and it seems like the trailers I use them on never have rub rails for my strap winder. I tend to only use them on crates.

When your loads get big enough indirect securement is not the best method in my opinion. I frequently secure 16'-20' wide loads with 5' long straps and 8' long chains.

You can also loop the end of your chain and use the flat hook from strap.
