I just took a course (home course) from Advances tech courses. That was more thorough than anything I have seen. In a recent thread from me you'll see that I mention getting 100% on all three written tests i took... generall CDL, airbrakes and combination... ... and they supply for all states in the US... Awesome stuff at a fraction of the cost of some of these rip off schools... The package includes general CDL, state specific handbook, one book for each endorsement; airbrakes, combination, doubles, triples, passenger vehicles, tanker vehicles, hazardous materials (with DOT chart 12) and school bus endorsements... There is also two sets of practice tests and answers for everything I just mentioned. They even offer money back guarantee on passing...
Good luck!

i'm not sure that links like that are allowed.
BTW, you can just tell the site but not make it a link that is OK i think. -
I started to got that route but I got the CDL manual from my local DMV in MS and studied on my own for 1 month and I took every practice test I could find on the internet and took the CDL test and scored 100%. I started school on 2/6/07 and already had my permit so I will be working on driving/backing skills for the next three weeks. Only thing is it costing me is a 6 month stint with Swift since they are paying for the training. We have only 7 people in our class and two brand new Swift trucks to train on. I got real lucky and found a local training school in my home town of Greenville, MS (small town) and avoided having to go to the Swift Academy and be shacked up with three other people and be stuck with a one year commitment. Plus once we get our training certificate we get a $500 signing bonus right out of school. This deal was just to good for me to pass up for my situation.

Good for you! However, I used the free online test sites, and it turned out great. The truck driving school I attended, encouraged potential students to take the written tests prior to enrollment. I didn't understand why they would suggest this, since I was forking out $1100 with the hopes that they would teach me what I needed to know, before taking the written tests.
Never-the-less, I arrived at the test center at around 7:30am, took all six tests and passed them all. I finally left the test center at around 3:30pm. It took all day, but it was worth it.
By-the-way, just before I graduated, I asked one of the instuctors why they encourage us (students) to take the written CDL first. He said that because when a student fails the tests, he or she would have to wait 7 days before their allowed to retest. And since the school would not allow a student to drive without a permit, the student would be a week behind, and they would have to reschedule the driving syllabus to ensure that he (student) would receive the driving hours required by PTDI. Go figure!
