Sugar Transload Station Carolinas

Hi All,

I work in freight for a sugar company and have been trying to find a transload terminal in the Carolinas (preferably NC) that can perform a food grade transfer of granulated sugar from 2,200 super sacks into bulk tanker trucks. I am aware of a couple that will offer the bulk railcar to bulk tanker service but haven't found any that do the bag to bulk option. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a terminal that loaded bulk granulated sugar in the area that might offer that service? My final customer receiving the loads of bulk sugar is located in the Raleigh I-95 area.

No, not that I am aware of. Normally the super sacks are raised by a forklift and opened into a dump station and from there the sugar is elevated via conveyor and fed via gravity into the trailers hoppers. The sugar could also be blown into the trailer from the dump station's hopper but I haven't seen it done direct from the bags before.

 

The bags come from out of state, the shipper does not have pneumatics nearby and can't load bulk railcar at origin which is what a lot of bulk sugar shipments do i.e. bulk rail hopper to a local transload station, bulk truck for final mile.
