Only if you turned up the fuel quite a bit then those E-6 start to crack the blocks.

@Caterpillar Cowboy what specs does the old mack have? 237, 285, 300 and 350 were pretty common.

300 maxidyne being a real stump puller 315hp 1425tq at 1050rpm. Big numbers for a 11L back in those days

Caterpillar Cowboy and MACK E-6 Thank this.

I guess that’s why I’ve never seen one that didn’t turn day into night when it took off. :laughing6:

My dads 71 F model had a 237 maxidyne from the factory. Somewhere along the line a Schweitzer turbo was put on and would out pull all the 300 maxidynes. Still a ton of E-6's running around NYC & the island

It's got a E6 350 with a 12 speed trans on Camelback. Nothing fancy and I'm not looking for anything fancy!

That mack 12 speed you run like a super 10 I'm pretty sure. No Hi-Lo range selector you just split every gear @MACK E-6 he should know. A lot of guys really liked those trans

Don’t know. Never drove one. I’ve only ran 9 or 10 speeds.

Yea I google'd it same as a super 10 but the splitter has 4 positions Hi-Direct-N-rev. I guess either a second stick or air actuated switch on dash lets you have deep reduction in 1st and 5 reverse if I read right

As long as it's in good shape it sounds like a pretty good deal. I'm sure I'll be able to figure out how to find the gear I need to put it in!

I'm not really too up on the Mack motors though. I'm not sure if it's one of those tip turbine early intercooled ones, completely non intercooled, or what I'm really hoping for is a standard in front of the radiator charge air cooler.

As long as she runs good though it will be fine for the backup / training / punishment role I have in mind for it.

I'm really liking the idea of going backwards as far as technology goes. Much simpler than all the new computers.

What year? I'll have to ask my dad but I think the later ones were air to air setup. I also think the 350s were 4v head Idk if they made a 2v 350. That was the most power the E-6 was rated for from factory
