OK at 15:13 EST I returned to the grid?! Unit was on, sitting in the mount since 0830 and just started tracking at 1513. Weird.

    Hi There!

Recently pruchased a Rand McNally 500 & am using it now. It has a few quirks here and there but the one I am dealing with now is that even though I have the Truck POI Icons set on "ON", I have passed at least a half dozen truck stops but the icons didn't show up. However, I am currently in Indiana & there are plane icons everywhere!!! I clicked on a few planes out of curiosity and they all say "Indianapolis Airport". WTF?
The GPS is set for truck, not plane. Yet the screen is not showing ANY truckstops & thirteen airplanes scattered all over the screen!

How come we can't use this thing to plan a trip ahead?

I want to be able to research another trip while on a current trip without being rerouted or losing my place on the map.

If I try to plan a second trip in this thing, it won't show me the routing, the mileage, nothing until I am done with the first trip.

    Am I doing something wrong????

Today while traveling around the Twin Cities Minnesota my TND 700 experienced what I refer to as a psychotic episode. I was on the south side on 494 traveling approximately 63 miles an hour when my speed alert started flashing red, indicating I was traveling in excess of the 6 miles an hour alert setting, and showed me traveling 63 in a 35. The speed limit on that stretch is 60. At the first available opportunity I checked the map on the screen and noticed my truck was not even on the road I was traveling on. According to the map I was about a half-mile away on a side road. The GPS then kept Trying to recalculate me back to 494. The truck actually started going into circles somewhere on a golf course about a half a mile from where I was. This went on for about 5 miles. I tried turning the a unit on and off, to no avail. I even canceled the routing and that didn't work. Finally I reached my exit (212 W.) and started heading west. After showing the truck circling all over the Cloverleaf it finally started going straight on highway 212 and has worked flawlessly since. I travel this route quite regularly so it was no big deal, but someone unfamiliar with this area could find it quite disconcerting. Anyone have any idea what happened? Was this a problem with my TND 700 or were the satellites having a bad hair day? Inquiring minds want to know.:biggrin_25523:

Well that's a good deal as I did update the 500 (I think, not sure. Mute question since I received the 700 I suppose). Gotta say that the larger size really makes the map look better-cleaner, sharper etc-then the 500's display.

    You can do this.

Enter the address that you want to start/pre plan your trip from. Do not start the route but instead hit the "Start Origin" at the bottom of the screen. Then enter the address you want to go to and hit start.

    Hope that helps.

    Hey Mark,

I am confused on the updates. If we are not able to update via the TND dock at this point what should we do. Should we wait for updates to start again on the Dock or should we request the card from RM? It sounds like some people are able to update via the dock and others are not.

I checked the file dates that you mention in another message and mine are all the 2/19.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Most likely the the road is not correct in he maps. I use to have this happen on route 30 in Ohio. I reported it to RM and i was fixed in an update some time ago.

Does it do it every time you go this way? If so be sure to report it ether to Mark or using the tell RM option. That way when if I ever go there it will work for me :)
