Mark, i'm still researching the 720, and have one question. i read a 720 enduser review on amazon recently, and the reviewer mentioned the lack of street names being displayed while driving. Are there specific setting that will show all street names? Thanks.
-
And yes, even after getting the latest update from Rand McNally, there are still
limited street names. I'm talking so limited it's enough to cost it a star. It
has a few major street names and of course tells you what street you are on as
its related to your route. But that's about it.
What is not mentioned is what Zoom level they are at. The more you Zoom out the less "Street Names" you will see. Also are they in 3D or 2D? You will see a difference in Street Names there also.
If you turn off AutoZoom and run with "Street Scale" checked this will be about 5 miles around you. Run also 2D mode.
You can also if you are on the Map screen, at the bottom, tab through
Road you are on.
Next Intersection (showing road name)
City, County, State.
You can also click on the Cog on the bottom left to show you your current location and the next intersection, along with Lat/Long.
On the map screen when you are within 1/2 mile the bottom bar will start to count up/down according to the flow of numbers showing you the building numbers. Great for those places that do not believe in a 5" number on the outside of their building at 2 am in a warehouse area.
Thanks,

Great thread, there is a lot to read here.
Just got the 720.
Should there be a Map Update out of the Box?
By the Way, was hoping the Wifi would do a bit more, like the ability to update the Unit w/o a PC (or Mac).
Also not sure if it's been mentioned only read the last few pages backwards so far.
It would be nice if the Wifi wouldn't have to be re-enabled and reconnected everytime the device is rebooted. The Data warning also.Last edited: Feb 6, 2013

Features are pending for Wi-Fi.
If the Wi-Fi is left on when the device is powered down and let's say you are using weather, you will still be using data across your data plan. On the other hand, once the device is powered down, all software is shut down also.
The Data warning is there as a legal thing. I know you get tired of seeing it, but someone somewhere will run over their data plan and put the blame on the TND-720.
Thanks,

Veronica is acting very strangely. From Spokane to south of Portland, she wants to take me east on 2, south on 28, and south on 21 to US395. When all it is I-90W to 395 S. (I82, 84)
As Spock would say, that's just completely illogical. -
Thanks,

So Mark, is it possible to buy map updates for a T5C?
