If the plastic ring on the tip of the lighter plug breaks thus making the plug useless try and find a lighter plug with a metal ring, maybe an old one from previous devices and swap it out. I had to do this and works like a ####.
The plastic ring is crap and all lighter plugs should have a metal ring so the positive connection is always tight thereby maintaining a solid feed to the unit and not making the voltage fluctuate and screwing up the device.
Another case of cheeping out on a part that is vital to the proper operation of the unit. Fluctuation of voltage and amperage will toast electronics pretty quick.

The problem with the metal rings is that they can come loose inside the socket and short out the socket. I've had a socket get ruined from that.

Well, just like any of your other equipment it needs to b checked once in a while.Unplug make sure the ring is tight and plug it back in,at least the ring won't break and crumble in your hand while trying to check the fuse.
If the ring was tight when you plugged it in it shouldn't come loose unless you continuously plug and unplug which is not necessary to do. When you dock the unit a different cable is used and the power cable doesn't need to be unplugged.
I have never had a ring come off unless it was broken and only discovered that when the unit started acting funny as it wasn't getting the proper power.

Mark, is there anyway to save "my location" instead of "save this address". My tomtom could do that/ I find that when I "save this address" half the time it saves some address miles away.

That's not what I'm asking....I know how to save the address. What I'm asking Mark, is there a way to save my location not an address.

Same thing, just two different ways of saying it.

    Thanks,
