Aside from the driver facing camera, what equipment is Swift issuing to company drivers?

    • Truck make/model?
    • APU?
    • Inverters?
    • Refrigerators?
    • Microwaves?
    • XM/SIRIUS?
    • etc...
Used search, but didn't see any recent posts.

    Thanks in advance. :)

The oldest truck you can get will be 4-5 years old. Driver facing camera is all you will get from your list.

    Nuthin' huh?

    What about idling?
Is comfort an issue? Is living out of the truck nearly full time doable in Swift's equipment?

Any reason why you want to go with Swift? Do you have a lot of carriers to choose from where you live?

Just weighing my options. Have read all the good and bad. Not my first choice. Probably my next to last choice.

But I'm looking a 48 state carrier I get get my CDL with, and keep me on the road for as long as possible. And while I'm not a prince(ess), some basic comforts will go a long way. So if I'm torn between two equally crappy companies, the equipment may tip the scales.

Swift doesn't allow very much, or provide very much.
But you can have a small inverter to power a computer or charging devices. You can use 12V coolers and lunchbox ovens. That gets me by just fine.
I eat pretty good with that little lunchbox oven. Tonight it was salmon, rice and green beans.
My Coleman cooler keeps things cold enough, even chicken, fish and meat, to last several days.
And my computer doubles as a TV, thanks to a USB TV tuner.

On the Central side, from what I've heard from some of their drivers...
No inverters at all, and no 12V stuff that uses more than 8W of power.

Idling isn't a real issue. I told my DM that if it's sleep time and it's over 75 outside, I'm idling. (And since I'm now teaming, anytime we're parked is sleep time.)

I spent last summer running dedicated in central PA. I had a 20" box fan and screens, and an overall idle of 3%. I'm in Phoenix, where it was 113 this afternoon, and if anyone says anything... You need to sleep to be rested. Just be reasonable with the idling, and you'll be OK.

We are running a 2016 Cascadia. It has an AMT (automated manual transmission) and adaptive cruise, and I couldn't be happier with it.

No company camera yet, bit we had the same ones at my last job. Despite what others are saying, Swift can NOT remotely trigger a recording. Unlike the consumer cameras, it doesn't save hours of video... ten seconds after video is recorded, it's overwritten.

We've already been told it has 8GB of storage. And that was direct from Richard.
What is it being used for, if not video files?

The 10 or so seconds that you mention is what is held in memory - RAM memory.
But there is also 8GB of storage, just like a hard drive or USB flash 'memory' or SSD.

Part of that 8GB will be reserved to save what is taking place 'right now', as in the 10 seconds before and after an event is triggered.
I would presume no more than 4GB, but probably much less. 20 seconds of video won't take that much space. Tens of 20 second clips can be stored in much less than 1 GB.

The remainder can be used for saving files in predetermined intervals, and that can equate to at least an hour of stored files before the first is overwritten by the last.

And saying that an event can't be triggered is a very useless statement.
Saying that 'we can't access real time streaming video' is just as useless.
If all that extra storage space is there, why not use it?
They don't need a real time feed or to be able to trigger an event. All they need is the ability to store video, and the ability to retrieve it at will.
The WiFi connection gives that ability.

Personally, I don't go on what someone tells me.
I go on what I know.
And I know what is possible with these camera's given the current state of technology.
