Why are we calling it a homicide?

It wouldnt matter. Truck governed at 62 and a idiot behind the wheel of a fast car that may have been going max speed of 120+mph. It still results in a 60 mph collision. RIP youngster.

That truck is right on the line, and I am sure the impact of the car moved the trailer over the fog line. I don't know why the driver stopped, but he could have at least gotten the truck off into some of that hard pack off the pavement. I see this all the time with these Mega carriers. And when they go to take off, they hit their turn signal and make a hard left directly into oncoming traffic. That wide shoulder is there for a reason, get the truck up to a safe speed and then merge into traffic. Truck drivers on shoulders scare the hell out of me. To many idiots with ZERO commonsense driving these things.

Yep, parked on shoulder, right on the fog line. But the article says he was in the right lane, I misread. But, if you look at the photos, it sure looks like Swift was parked on the shoulder when this happened. Looking at pavement, no drag marks from the car and the way the fluid is pooling under the car. And I would think if Swift was out there rolling when they happened that the car would leave some sign of being dragged down the road for a bit. Those tires should have been hot on the car, and when he hit the truck the motor and transmission were stopped, locked up. Just my .02. Seen it one to many times out here.

It looks like he was moving over into the shoulder. The truck section looks like it's fully on the other side of the line. I know where this happened. It's a weird stretch of road that is straight for miles and people FLY down it with alot being well over 100 mph. UHP usually has a trooper semi permanently parked there. There's been several big accidents along that stretch involving cars hitting trucks or RVs.
