Swift is not a perfect company. There is no such thing as a perfect company. I had issues with them on the reimbursement and sign on bonus which I never received. However they are great starting company. People who have been with swift more than 5 years swear by the company. I'd say about 75% of the people that complain about Swift are the ones that couldn't make the cut. When I started driving I drove with Swift. I had a few problems with dispatch on the East coast giving me really bad loads and then really bad advice. Out of frustration I want to another company called Stans Inc in South Dakota. Funny thing is most companies talk about safety and its importance. Swift lives by safety. If someone at Swift tries to get you to do something that you feel is unsafe all you have to do is report them and those people are instantly fire if there is proof, so like everything in CDL world, get it in writing. I regret leaving Swift for the second company, because the second company made me realize just how bad things can really be. Not only that, in the time that I've been driving I've never once seen one wrecked Swift truck. Yes there are bad drivers, a lot of them, but that's simply because they are so large. If you were to give the ratio of 50/50 for good drivers and bad drivers for every company then Swift still has more bad drivers. I remember about six months into my working for Swift. I stopped at a Flying j red wings. There were three drivers standing outside griping about Swift as the Swift truck went by saying well there goes another swiftie, get ready somebody's truck is about to get hit, swift are nothing but a bunch of morons. Well that really irritated me. So I stopped and asked all three of them how long they've been driving. one told me he'd been driving for three months the second one told me seven months or third one told me he'd been driving for a year. And they did this with such condescension and such arrogance. I simply replied oh so you are all still a novice drivers. Well let me tell you something, the Swift driver that went by what's a 6 diamond drive. Diamond drivers at swift mean that they've gone 1 million miles without an accident. 6 diamond means that they've gone six years as a diamond driver. That driver had more experience and it was a safer driver than all three of them combined and half the truck stop. one thing I really find disgusting about the trucking world is how much crap they give swift drivers. We are all truck drivers. And we should treat each other with respect because we know dang well no one else is going to give it to us.
