Can't help you with your Swift reefer question but there are members here who can. Just be patient and they will respond. Anyway, I just wanted to welcome you to the forum. Good luck to you!

I'm thinking Swift reefer division is going to be dedicated, maybe Wal-Mart or something. But, I could be wrong. (as much as I hate to be).

From what I have seen, Swift runs for Target, Walmart/Sams Club, and their own trailers. If it helps, I do know Swift has the contract to haul Target reefers out of Targets DC in FL. When I wored for Target in 07', Target had their DC in Alabama and Swift was their contractor. Not too sure if still they route them like this but the route I was on to two stores Brevard County and ended in Palm Beach. Hope this helps.

Concur. From what I've seen Reefers are for dedicated fleets; in my case Costco in the Pac NW. If Swift runs the rest of it's dedicated fleets the way they run Costco, you make an outbound run to a primary store (Costco) and have a random backhaul to the area of the DC. Sometimes pallets, sometimes ice cream, chicken, jam; you get the idea. On our fleet, about 20% of the backhauls are deadhead, therefore a lower pay per mile.

Swift has a tendency to run you close to the max weight, so if you're running a 3 axle truck be careful. They do re-imburse for CAT scale checks. Carry appropriate tools for adjusting tandems.

Drop me a line if I can help in anyway.

I am dedicated Target for Swift. Out of the 2 dc's in New York there are no reeferes. I don't think there are any out of PA either. I see a few reefers deliver to the dc I am out of, but am not sure how the cold stuff gets to the stores.
