Swift to Cut 4,000 Drivers

    I heard from an employee (high ranking) and others in the company that Swift plans to cut its total number of drivers from their current number of 16,000 to 12,000. They plan on doing this by cutting the dead weight and fat. It took them 2 years to reduce the number of drivers from 18,000 to 16,000.

    With that said their academy in Tenn is producing over 200 new recruits each month.

    If its true well thats just the sign of how things really bad now. With a company as big as swift letting 4k drivers go.

    Then explain why I'm running about 2,900 miles a week with Interstate? The difference? Swift treats their people like c**p, as well as their customers. They don't care about any of their staff, just as long as Jerry makes his. Swift isn't the only one, but they are the topic of this thread. Are all Swift drivers bad? NO! There are some decent, safe and courteous drivers there. Do they stay at Swift? Not as a rule.

    Swift doesn't have 4000 drivers to let go, do they? Steering wheel holders, maybe. The real drivers they have, they'll probably keep.
