1. how long is training until I go out with a mentor and start making a little money?
I live in San Antonio so room and board is not a problem since the school is here. I drive on the highway and cannot throw a rock without hitting a Swift truck. Do you Swift drivers run thru this area regularly?
And, do you take your truck home for your hometime or do you leave it at a terminal?

1. 3 weeks, unless you bomb the class, then repeat week for whichever you bomb.
2. All the time. Pretty much cover the US.
3. You can take it home depending on how far it is (something like 35 miles max). I leave mine at the terminal.Texas-Nana and future driver Thank this. -
They never let us take ours home!!!!! UNFAIR! Of course I'm sure the HOA would have a stroke if we parked that on the street. ROFL -
Bobtail only can be released to a personal vehicle status, as far as I know there is no HOS rules governing it once it has been. That is up to your driver manager as to if they will do it or not.
-
Not the HOS LOL the HOA -- Home Owners Association. Neighborhood Nazis.
-
Oh, see, there goes my tunnel vision.
HOA might not like it, but I might be tempted to park it at the closest place I would feel safe biking to or leaving my car.
-
There is a grocery store not too far from my house that a Swift employee has bobtailed to and the truck has been sitting in the parking lot for 2 days.
-
Well see.....there ya go. LOL -
what does the first three weeks at swift cover? are we talking pre Class A Learners? or post class learners into swift comp policies, or what?
-
Unless, of course, you are referring to a time quoted to you during new-hire orientation, in which case it's to train you on "Swift's way". This is a 6 week period after receiving your license for a new driver.Texas-Nana Thanks this.
