That's the key words. They might point at 4 pro stars and say that is what's available.... if you get that much choice. I like Swift but be realistic. Everyone has a that truck story.....
Swift's Cascadia or VN670?

Krashdragon,
How can I over-ride the idle restriction?
Thanks,

Most Swift trucks are set up to override idle restriction by goosing the throttle when you see the flashing check engine light come on at five minutes accompanied by "Judy" warning you that you are over idling. Some require you to step on the clutch. Some require you to set the cruise control and increase idle rpm from 600 to 700 or 800.
Make sure you figure this out when you first check out the truck when you are assigned a truck. If it is a Central truck it may not have idle override and I would refuse the truck.
The truck I have now warns me I'm over idling, but NEVER shuts off.Bettsexpress Thanks this. -
With the Volvo it is pressing the clutch for a second or two, AFTER the warning appears on the dash display.
The Cascadia was fiddling with the cruise control, and I don't remember about the ProStar.
I seem to remember that I could press either the clutch or brake with the ProStar. It was a while ago.
Keep in mind that there is a defined window of time, usually 4.5-5 minutes.
The warning will activate after about 4.5 minutes, and you have until the 5 minute mark to cancel the shut down.
That is from the time the engine turns on (not until the QC registers it), and assuming you have not pressed the accelerator or any other pedal in the mean time.
The trucks come with a user manual and the answer is usually in there.
I've also seen publications in several Swift terminal shops that detail the procedure. Look for them along the shop walls.
You could also simply ask a shop tech.
There are certain ways to override the idle shut down, and Swift seems to be good about providing the info.
Sometimes you just have to do a bit of looking, and asking, in the right place.
