Swifts new driver cameras are a complete piece of crap.

I had one of those AI cameras in a truck for 2 years. Even a driver facing cam. It was hooked up to the logbook and it will tell you how much time you spend driving over the speed limit. Never had a problem from safety.. but the company gave us 10 over before we would get written up. I would keep it at the limit or 5 over usually. Only place i would do more than that is cali but the camera always registered the car speed limit...i just throw the cruise on 65 and keep a lookout for chp..then guys started getting in trouble for pushing 70+ in cali and we all got in trouble... other than that i hardly ever noticed the camera was there.. just work on improving your skills as a driver and it will stop bothering you.

 

I mean.......if the speed limit says 55 then 55 is what you need to go. If you're coming up on a stale green light, then you have to anticipate a red light is on the horizon. If you are having all these hard braking events, then you may not be any good at driving a semi truck, or any vehicle for that matter. Would you rather Swift admonish you a out your speed or DOT?

 

Also, in this day and age, fussing about cameras in the truck is irresponsible use of energy. These companies gotta protect themselves and their drivers. I get it.

 

If you can't deal with driver facing cameras and want to run red lights then maybe it is time to move on from Swift.

Swift did the driver facing camera once before many years ago. Too many drivers quit, and I don't think it gave Swift the results they hoped for so the driver facing cameras went away. I stuck it out, and the driver facing cameras and forward nannycam never gave me any real problem.

Complaining about not being able to run a red light will get you no points from anyone. Even when I was at Swift, not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign was a big red flag and would get you fired if done even a few times. And that was before AI got involved.

Bad driving habits are dangerous for everyone. The stupid end of the stick is usually with the driver.

 

1st of all, I don't think the person makes a habit of running red lights, stated merely as how inefficient they feel the system is, and 2nd, ^^^ right here, insurance runs the game and all these cameras are mandated by the insurance companies, for just this reason. Years ago, there was no need for a camera, it was understood BEFORE you got in the truck, you knew what you were doing. It never ceases to amaze, people go into this profession, and want to customize it to their likings. Those days are gone, and if you want to drive a truck, cameras, whether in plain sight or hidden, are here to stay.

 

Vote with your feet, drivers. Quit driving for these companies!

 

I get the red lights thing, but getting a call about 2 miles over the speed limit is just nuts
