I have 16, going on 17 months of tractor-trailer experience as a vacuum truck driver. I work 14-hour shifts, Tuesday-Saturday (night shift) and was wondering why some companies that have dedicated/regional routes require OTR experience? A detailed answer would be appreciated. I thoroughly enjoy driving such a big piece of equipment and getting paid for it and am willing to put forth the effort to further my career.

If your otr. You have a similar life style and skill set to regional. They have prolbally had people quit on them, who didn't like the life style they didn't know of regional. If your clean get a hazmat and haul oil or gasoline.

I have done both the last year. I don't see how anyone couldn't go out with a trainer for five days and learn what they are missing for otr. Unless you suck at backing different conversation there.
