Just saw an ad for sysco offering up to $10k bonuses. Plus up to $100k a yr and home every night. Thats a #### good gig for a kid just starting out. The job market for drivers is crazy right now. Also saw Tforce offering drivers to start at top rate $30.95/hr. When I was at UPSF a couple yrs ago I was making $17.70 lolol.

No doubt. But if youre a kid in your 20s or early 30s looking for a good paying job, there it is right there. The body adjusts to the job also, just like with most other things. Until one day your 50 and need your knees replaced lol.

Sysco is offering 15k bonus here in Northern California. Have a phone interview hopefully tomorrow just to get a feel for them. Not sure what to expect with them.

Still not worth it in my opinion:

i've done my share of most of the food and/or beverage gigs.
Being realistic i feel that any food or beverage (beverage is actually worse) gig needs to pay minimum 2100 per week gross AND with a 4 day work week, be that M-TH or Tue-Fri weekends off.

The moving each and every box by hand is actually not completely all the bad part of the job, the other part is the a-hole customers. And i think they are like that because they really don't enjoy their jobs and it may not pay that much. Even the owners of the Mom and Pop type stores may not make as much as you might think.

Now, if we are talking a 5 day week, then i think the MINIMUM is 2500 gross. So, that's 130,000 per year which is still a little low for the work involved.

i think that if it were a situation where we had the keys to all the customers stores and we delivered to them late-night and we could work at our own pace and not have to see or deal with the customer, then that would actually make things better and i would even consider going back to food.

Now, lets compare LTL to food. Yes, you still have some a-hole customers(though not nearly as much as food) and residentials are also annoying by and large. But i don't remember the last time i used my handtruck.

So, were making about the same as you, but i can't remember the last time i used my handtruck and even if i did use it last week it was probably to move two or three boxes into a school. Whereas, you can't remember a stop where you DIDN'T use your handtruck and the stop didn't take less than a 1/2 hour because the customer was too lazy to do any work.

    Let that sink in.

Not a good deal in my opinion......
