    Hey,
    Looking to buy a truck and theres a t600 I've been watching. Its a 2007 with the detroit series 60 12.7 l

Its got 1.6 million miles but had "a platinum overhaul" 116,000 miles ago, which the owner claims he has paperwork to document. I intend to have it inspected however have had very little luck finding an inspector who is close enought to it. I just wanted to ask very broadly if the truck seems like a potential good deal or a nightmare. Photos dont show rust anywhere and owner claims its rust free, but i have little experience with the detroit.

Im not asking for someone to magically know if its a good truck or not, i know thats what the inspections for, just looking for maybe some advice that will either encourage me to keep trying to find an inspector or to look for another truck. Thanks yall

If yall have any advice on detroit specific or just general questions to ask the seller too that would be great. Thank you

What trans and rears? A Kenworth with a series 60 is something I wish I could run again.

Truck must be a glider or someone transplanted that engine in there after the fact. Detroit was not a factory option in Paccar after about 2001-ish.

Detroit was acquired by Daimler sometime in the early 2000's and as far as I am aware they became proprietary to Freightliner and Western Star after that.

Pretty good engines, I wouldn't be afraid of one if it's been looked after.

How many miles are on the entire truck? Unless it was a glider, someone repowered it with the Detroit. I would assume that this isn't the first overhaul. If so you are going to have a lot of miles on the crank.
