my newly assigned T880 is equipped with discs, and all i have to say after being accustomed to drums WOW. i love the stopping performance of the drums. i was wondering though if the tractor has discs with better stopping power and the trailer has drums, is there a greater possibility of a jack knife in winter driving conditions? all of our trailers are on the old side early 2000's (stainless steel milk tankers on aluminum frames last almost forever), are the latest and greatest trailers coming with discs now?

No issues what so ever. Heck I have disks and drums on my tractor alone. Disks are becoming more standard but drums are still offered on the new trucks and trailers.
MartinFromBC Thanks this. -

Disc all the way around is flat out AWESOME! I had that setup with a previous carrier, and i honestly miss it. Disc is far superior to drum, always has been.
When I buy, my setup will be disc on both truck and trailer.magoo68, BigHossVolvo and Goodysnap Thank this. -
I have disc on the front a drums on the rear. My brand new scrap trailer has drums. I think discs will be offered as an option on the trailer in the near future, but it will be several years before it's standard.

No more chance of a jackknife than any other.
Disc systems are just better all the way around.
More stopping power, run cooler and lighter.MartinFromBC, bottomdumpin and Bigfish59 Thank this. -
I know they have been on trucks for awhile. I just haven't seen any trailers with discs. Not saying there not out there -
We got lots of them. Heck Ive seen DOT peak under the trailer as I rolled into an inspection station setup in a rest area and as soon as he seen NO BRAKE CANS he waved me on through. Elog and disk brakes and I havent had an inspection in almost 5 years.
