    Morning Everyone!
I need to vent a little. I think you all will love this one. I have delivered to a store in Sauk Village for almost a year. They were recently bought
by a man and his two evil sons that own two other run down, crappy stores. They treat all drivers like dirt! I was blessed enough to have all three of there stores this Friday. First one went well, evil son one wasn't around. At the second store (where evil son one showed up and closed a door in my face) because they ran out of cash to pay my invoice and I had to wait "a minute" because father and sons were in a meeting. After 10 minutes, I went back and told the girl in the office. She called him up front on the PA. He came and got my bills (big inconvience for him) and made me wait another 15 minutes while he cut a check. Now, the best part.
I barely get to the next store before recieving closes.
The guy there who has unloaded me now for almost a year, come out and tells me the new owners won't allow him to unload any trucks other then Centrella
or Certified. Everyone else MUST hand unload. It seems the cost of propane for the forklift is to expensive to waste. I had 38 cases of frozen chicken and I was not happy. I asked him to go ask the manager. This knucklehead comes out screaming at me Hey! you want to pay for the ******* propane. It's $35.00 a tank. I'm sick of all you guys thinking we ahave to unload you! I told him (no, actually first time in my career I yelled back at a "customer"
because I couldn't believe how stupid it seemed)
that when my orders are smaller I always hand unload. He yells well then ******* hand unload it!
He kept yelling until I jumped down from the trailer, then he took the reciever and went inside. I guess I could have offered him .75 cents to pay for the propane he would use for driving the fork lift all of six feet!
I guess I'm getting tired of drivers being treated like crap when all we are doing is delivering THERE
    products!
    Thank You and God Bless.

I called my boss and naturally he said I had to. I did tell the receiver to tell his manager to call in and complain about me so I never have to come back to this ******* place again. I am disappointed I got down to his level with the yelling, but I am so sick of these stores and the management owners. I think that in conjunction with the fact I wasn't feeling well and I just lost two friends recently. One to a motorcycle accident ,was 47 years old and another from the VFW passed away suddenly Sunday night. He was only 51. I think these things took there toll and I just lost it. I always try to be professional with customers.

Guy probably doesn't get to wear the pants at home, so he makes sure to wear more than his fair share at work. I always hated to deliver to people like this.

    Sorry for your loss, Toby.

As far as these stores goes, look on the bright side. You can get in your truck and drive away. The poor folks that work there have to put up with them all the time.

I know what you mean about being sorry that you got down to their level and yelled back at the, but don't worry about it. There will always be jerks around, and sometimes a person just looses patience with them.

    Scrum!

As I've said before, many people treat truck drivers as second class citizens. You guys could be surprised to find that this "evil son" may treat other people including his employees with dignity and respect.

I'm finding more and more shippers and receivers lately who seem to have very little regard for a driver's time constraints regarding schedules and other appointments the driver has to keep. At times this lack of respect for a driver's time and basic human needs (restroom facilities) can become downright demoralizing.

I'm developing some theories about this. At the risk of offending some, I'll postulate that we in the industry have brought much of this disrespect on to ourselves. I'm seeing more and more young truckers who act and dress like total slobs- baggy "punk" shorts, lots of poorly done tattoos, obscene tee-shirts, body odor, etc. and who talk like profane morons. I've seen some of the messes these buttheads can leave a restroom in. Granted, these guys are a minority among other professionals who act, dress, and
talk like professional transportation specialists. However, we're all painted with the same brush and after a bad experience with one of these characters one can't help but understand some of this discrimination against truckers. In fact, there are some who may come to believe truckers are somehow subhuman and not worthy of basic human dignities.

I agree with you 100%. I have seen this a lot lately. I also don't think it is professional to be talking on the cell phone while a receiver is trying to check you in. I had a friend that made fun of me because I had to wear a uniform. We were taking a lot of their business away from them most of it do to the drivers appearance, attitude and unwillingness to go the extra mile (which sucks some time) Now they just had a four hour meeting about professionalism and guess who is getting brand new uniforms to wear. LOL.
