    I cant understand why we still use diesel really , the jp5 ,i think , is same but with anti ice and anti diesel bug and a couple other things and its cheaper , again i think . The military runs everthing off of it , jets , tanks , gen sets , humvee ect. Could get in on the volume price savings with added bonuses already mentioned .

    When I drove in Iraq, we would put either diesel or JP8 in the Mercedes and Volvo cabovers we drove, depending on which line was shorter. When we drove the Military Freightliners or AM Generals we were required to run JP8. And yes the military runs everything on it. Make sense logistically only having to supply one type of fuel. But when we started getting armored up Internationals with C15 Cats we weren't allowed to use anything but diesel. Cat said they wouldn't warranty the engines if we didn't run only diesel. JP8 is way cleaner but lacks some of the lubricating properties of diesel.

    The Seabees used JP4 in Alaska, IIRC (30 yrs ago) and the JP8 in Bosnia. Mechanics said the JP in Alaska caused deposits that made cold starts difficult. Of course there were no physical proof but everything was an ether baby.
