What lube do you guys use on your hatch lids? My first load almost every day is fly ash and the place where I pick it up dumps almost as my on the trailer as they do in it.

They have a wash rack to drive thru, but it’s an exercise in futility and that crap gets caked on.

Every couple of days or so I have to climb up there with a hammer and lightly tap the hinges to knock off the cakes of dried fly ash.

I lube the nylon hinges with 5th wheel grease, but it doesn’t last very long.

That got me thinking. I don't remember ever lubing the latches. A wire brush and a chipping hammer got used occasionally though.

I would like to use fly ash to make concrete.
I think it could be used for Roman concrete.?

I wonder how fluid film would work on it?

Don't bother with lube. It just attracts the dirt. At best, a squirt of WD-40 to help open and close them, but only when they become tough to open.

The best solution I've found is to remove the latches occasionally and take a wire wheel to them. Get the crud off the mating surfaces, and they seem to work better

Yep, don't put anything sticky up there. I used to run my boot toe over the top of the hatch to clean the mating surface before closing it, but that's it. Some places had a vacuum to clear off the top spillage.

Guess I’ll just continue with the hammer every few days.

I have an air hose up there to blow the dust off, but it's useless when it rains

One of the places I pick up from has a air hose on the exit safety rack. It’s handy when it’s dry but, like you said, useless when wet.

Used to run it daily. Skipped the worthless wash line. Never lubed a lid, just cleaned when I'd replace gaskets.
