Chemical tanks have pressure release valves as well. They use a magnet to create the seal. At around 40lbs of pressure it opens and vents off the excess pressure. I imagine your system is much higher.

The valves on newer trailers will not release any amount of vacuum. It only releases after it get to a certain point to protect the trailer integrity.

But that's designed for internal pressure. I.e. And air offload, not for pump offload. The valve will only show pressure to escape out-of-pocket not allow air in.

    Exactly.

I was replying to Cali Kids comment about cryo gas tanks. They deal with much higher pressures and probably never have a vacuum state in the tank. I imagine introducing air into a hydrogen load would not be a good thing. Having a similar automatic system to release negative tank pressure probably isn't a good idea.

Yes cryo tanks should never be in a vacuum state due to contamination. LIN,LOX,LAR trailers have surprisingly low set safeties, first is at 44ish psi that's a spring type diaphragm. The 2nd is a rupture disc which is around 55ish psi. Now hydrogen, which I haven't been trained on yet has both low and high pressure trailers, so that's a different animal all together.

    ChicagoJohn and wsyrob Thank this.

That is lower pressure than I would have thought.

The reason being is that the tank pressure is only to feed the pump. The pump itself is what adds the pressure to the line, which can be up to 400 psi.

Well guys I may not be pulling tanks much longer. I have a job opportunity pulling rgn, flats, steps etc..... For a local company getting 30% of the load with full benefits and its based locally where I live. I'm at a crossroads of staying here and doing my year or moving on.

G13Tomcat, ChicagoJohn and slim shady Thank this.

Ah....... That's an easy one for me, but you need to decide what's important to you. I wasn't wild about the home everyday, but if your local and make good money, sounds like an easy choice to me.

RGN positions don't come up very often and I believe the money is better.

My only real complaint with my current company is the pay. They start you out at a low cpm and say the load/unload pay will help it, but that's not true. Also there are no raises
