Hey guys finally starting school in May, been on here reading a lot still. Started looking into tanker/flatbed wondering if any companies will hire rookie tanker drivers, found companies for flatbed, out of Phoenix if that helps.

Try WW Transport for starters. They hire new cdl grads.
-
Try these; not sure they hire in Phoenix, but they do hire new cdl grads. Read the fine print because they all hire new cdl grads and sometimes it's difficult to find that in the websites. Some hire from certain schools only & some only want 160 hr. school from anywhere:
Gemini Transport - owned by Love's Truck Stops.
Western Dairy Transport
Schneider Bulk
Liquid Trucking
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gemini Transport
-
Same goes for flatbed:
Melton Truck Lines
Paul Transportation
System Transport
Note - one new cdl grad on this forum went to Paul Transportation, but didn't stay long because he had a jerk trainer. Don't let a trainer derail your new job; hang in there. Not all trainers are jerks! -
Here's an example of reading carefully. This concerns Gemini Transport that hauls diesel and DEF to Love's Truck Stops, and also hold true for other companies:
"2 years of verifiable over-the-road driving experience or certification from accredited truck driving academy."
This is from an actual ad in Phoenix.
Here's another example & it's also from an ad in Phoenix for McLane Food Service:
Delivery Driver Trainee - CDL A
"Have a Class A Commercial Driver's License. It's preferred to have Class B driving experience and an accident free driving record for the past three years."
- Notice, the ad says "preferred" vs. "required." This company does hire new cdl grads and those drivers post about it sometimes. This is one of those $70K+ jobs.
- One new grad near Chicago was hired for this job, but quit after a couple of weeks, saying "Too much manual labor."
Hunter4019 Thanks this. -
According to the Gemini guys I've talked to, in the PNW at least, they've dropped their experience requirement and are taking grads from accredited schools.
Lots of former Gemini drivers up here.Hunter4019 and Chinatown Thank this. -
I would like to get into flatbed but so many to choose from
