If Benton is near enough to St. Louis, contact Miller Transporters.. millert. Its been a year since I got out of tanking... Can't remember their name but there's a food grade dry bulk carrier that always had a lot of drivers at the East St. Louis tank wash. maybe some one else can call the name for you. Their drivers seemed satisfied with them. The E. St. Louis tank wash is a good place to run out of as well. They have a nice snack bar and good showers.

Most all gasoline is local. And the best of those are the bigger companies. I don't know your area but generally everone starts with the lower paying common carriers to gain the experience then stay around to get hired on buy one of the majors. You can tell if it's a major by looking at the name on the door. I say that because sometimes you'll see a truck with a major name on the trailer but it'd be another company that is really pulling that load. The law says you must have the company name on the doors of the cab. Those trucks are dedicated carriers. They will haul for example Chevron but it's really Dave's trucking that owns the truck. When you match the big name to the cab then you hit pay dirt.

Carlo/Cyanide doesn't post here so I stole some of his work. Its about a year old so some of the numbers might not be accurate.

Never have given pulling a Tanker much thought, but have to say Superior Carriers seems very interesting.never heard of getting paid 10 bucks to sleep in the sleeper but if they wanna pay who am I to argue.Especially considering I have slept across the seats of a day cab for free

I've been paid overnight detention time a couple of times . Once the consignee intended to change the delivery date by a day but failed to notify our dispatch or the shipper . I got there a day early and got paid to wait until the next day .
Another time the product was slightly out of spec on a Sunday delivery . They knew they would accept it Monday but couldn't find anyone with authority to accept it Sunday so I collected detention pay until Monday .
We have a shipper that loads paint that always pays some detention pay . They won't load during a thunderstorm and I got paid all night one night for a storm that lasted all night . -
One of the best things about tank work is the detention time. Every tank company, at least in the chemical business, makes customers pay, so they do. If you're an O/O it is hard on equipment though. That surge yanking on your drive line is gonna cost you extra maintenance. A lot of people think those silver bullets have baffles, They do not. If you have a heavy product on, you reach max gross weight with as little as 3500 gals in a 6800 gallon tank. If you are not very careful, "Mr. Surgio" will come to visit. He is not a nice guy.
