Good Morning All - I took and passed my CDL road test on Friday!! I took my test in a single axle day cab (auto tranny) with a 27' single axle dry van. If everything goes according to plan, I will start orientation at Swift the 2nd or 3rd week in January. I still have 60 hours of class and 40 hours of driving(manual tranny) left in order to complete the training program at the private school I chose to attend.
Thank you to Texas Nana, DickJones, TruckerDragon, 1nonly, Injun, and many others who have posted about their experiences at Swift. The information you have posted has been very helpful to me!
I'll keep everyone posted on my progress. Stay safe out there!

Welcome to the team. Hope you don't end up with that piece of......work... Truckerdragon started with. If you do, please don't allow yourself to be bullied either by the mentor or the office staff into staying on the truck.
There is a lot of great support here and now that Oldnewbie is getting back online with us, he will be an indispensible resource for you as well.JustSonny Thanks this. -
Thanks Injun! Yeah, Truckerdragon ended up with a real loser there.... I won't let anyone bully me, but will put up with a reasonable amount of BS.

Wow! Sounds like a really good school! I didn't do a 3 week school. Mine was 36 days. 200+ hrs.
Good luck!Tapeworm Thanks this. -
I am pretty darn happy with the training I am receiving Rug. Your program was 200+ hours in 36 days? Man, that is a lot of training to cram into 36 days!
In other news, yesterday was a humbling day for me. I took the 10 spd out in traffic for the first time... For the first hour, I was really struggling with my takeoffs (in 2nd gear) from a stop. Once I got my heavy foot under control, things went much better. I really can shift that bugger well when I remember NOT to mash the accelerator down. Now I understand why many truckers wear tennis shoes or cowboy boots when they are driving.... -
7:30am-2:30pm M-F We also did some night driving, up and down Monteagle on I-24, and did it with 24K in the box.
