if im driving with a partner and we both are forced to switch every 8 hours (duty + driving) excludes any break (off duty) then none of us woukd have to do the 34 hours reset and we are always driving ? or is there any discrepancy in that ?

If you drive for 8 hours and your partner drives 8 hours a day and you set the other 8 hours you can drive forever. But why would you want to.

Hours of Service reg are designed so you don't have to work yourself to death to make a living out here. Anyone trying to cheat the reg by driving more then they should is putting downward pressure on the wages we earn. So stop trying to cheat the system.

i guess we do have a problem, that would mess up the work and sleep schedule for both

you are right but i just want to discuss an efficient way to run as a team.

Team or not, each driver has to have 10 hours off inside any 24 hour window, so I don't see how it's possible to drive in 8 hour segment swaps. Teams that run hard and to maximum production will have to do resets, too. But in many cases this is by design and preferred as long as the reset can be arranged at a location that works for both.

To my way of thinking, best bet is to come up with a 12/12 schedule, but perhaps this is not practical in much of the team trucking real world.

Wife and I split the 24 hour day as a Reefer Team.

One of us has to do the 10 hours driving (At the time we ran, it's 10 hours and none of that 34, 30 min, etc.)

A solo working in those days with a 24 hour clock will do 10 hours, sleep 8 wake up for the coming of night driving for the last 6 hours until midnight and stops to sleep again at 4 am for 8 more hours.

When Mr 70 hours says that's quite enough (Around 5 days for a solo) that's it you stop and stay. Until you have enough recaps going back 8 days to get hours to work or drive at midnight.

Your 34 reset is strictly optional.

What you and your team driver is trying to do is cheat the system. Don't do it. It has been changed rather in HOS to give you two a chance to STOP a minute. You are already flogging that rig 22 hours a 24 hour day. You both have 140 of 168 hours in a work week before you two run out against each of your 70.

Only need 65 of that to get from LA to Avenel NJ and the other another 65 hours to get back across USA in 6 days and change. Boom done. Then you have to stop a while. Not too long but a while.
