My significant other and I want to try OTR team driving, we a both fairly new to driving/OTR. I am currently on solo home weekends gig.
Is it realistic to tell a company we prefer on general to have 1-2 full off every week to 10 days? We would like to keep our sanity and that seems like it may help.
Thanks
Team driving - run 6-8 days, 1-2 off possible?

Hell there most companies want teams out 3 weeks then home for up to 4 days off from what I found out looking at all companies just have to call a lot of them and find out what schedule they run for teams to work for u and ur wife

You can generally get that, just dig in your heels, make it a deal breaker.

Yea we're not really needing to be back home for the days off, just don't want to run ourselves into the ground by not allowing for some time with each other and time out of truck. We work well if we have a somewhat regular timeframe to look forward to days off about. Thanks for the responses.

If you look hard enough you might find exactly what you want but what compromises you willing to make to get the home time that you want? -
Shop around. If you have experience, then your options are much wider. Line haul operations may be what you are looking for rather than OTR, since the companies tend to have routes already set up, with loads that need to move on a regular basis, and you won't be spending much time sitting because it's all drop and hook. So you'll leave the same day on the rotation and be back on the same day (depending on routes of course).
Just let the people you talk to know your expectations for home time. -
Tell em you want it in writing.

If you don't care where the day is at, you can always just tell them you absolutely will take a 34-hour reset every week. I have always taken a 34 whether I need it or not. I have had one dispatcher that had issues with it but none of the others would say a word about it. Realistically if dispatch is doing their job and you are both running hard and doing your job then you'll really need to take the 34-hour reset anyway . That will also not use up any of your home time.
