Termination and travel

I understand they got screwed. But not even a credit card or way to get cash (wired to them) to rent a car to get home? Or greyhound? Not that i would use greyhound, but it sure beats walking. I am not wealthy but i have friends that would help me out in a pinch if need be. Pennyless and no friends is a bad way to live.

You get to the gate and step off company property. Find your own way home even if it's a 2000 mile walk.

 

Go to a truckstop and catch a ride heading in the direction of your home state/city.

 

One of the scariest moments I’ve ever had, was a miles from home and no money.

It turned out to be an ####### waiter trying to embarrass me or shake me down. I don’t think he was planning on me calling and asking, WTF?

But you’re right. Never ever go on the road without a way or means to get home. Be it money or friends.

 

In Ontario the company is responsible regardless of reason for termination.
Company must provide transportation
That’s why they don’t fire anyone while out on the road
Company knows you fire us on the road that truck is having a parts yard sale

 

That figures.

 

That's not what I was told, there is no law or regulation providing the driver a way home.

Where do I find that?
