    I am a new flat bed driver and I am wondering how I'd go about setting up a new home address in Texas without having to rent or buy from someone? I already have a CDL from Texas but I am no longer living in my listed address as the lease ended and they want to sell. I am likely to be OTR for most of the year and when I'm not ill stay in the truck or hotel. How do I set up a new physical address to satisfy DPS for my home domicile without renting or buying a place I won't visit?

    I would google your question. When you Google, or whatever internet search engine you use instead, make sure to include "for CDL driver". In my state the rules for addresses on your DL are or were different for CDL and passenger car license. For CDL drivers in my state you had to comply with the Real ID procedure years and years and years before Real ID was mandatory. I notice lots of the online articles about establishing residence assume you are an RVer or car driver.

    TX DPS will have the info and they also decide if what you bring them as proof is accepted or not, so I would listen to them.

    Here's the link to Texas DPS for changing your CDL address online. I cannot find specifically what paperwork TX requires for CDL change of address. Texas specifically states you CANNOT change your CDL address by mail but non-commercial license holders can change address by mail.

    @tscottme
    Respectfully speaking, what state and town/city is your domicile?

    With all due respect, I don't feel comfortable giving out that personal info. I don't live in Texas.

    Texas requires you to prove residence with real estate tax forms, utility invoices with an address, Rental/lease agreements with address, and such. And some require two pieces of evidence.

    Not possible to do in Texas unless you rent or buy something.In Houston around the Bellaire/Chinatown area,you can rent a room in a house for $500 a month,then you'll have the address to use and be all legal.
    My wife and I did that for year before we found a house to buy.
    If you are flatbedding out of Houston it will work out ok.
